Technically, a custom mosaic is created by first converting the customer’s image or artwork into a mosaic pattern, where the original image is divided into a grid of individual tiles or tesserae. Each section is analysed for its colour, tone, and shape, and is then mapped to suitable mosaic pieces from the available material and colour range. The design is scaled to the required dimensions and refined to maintain the image’s details and proportions. The individual pieces are then cut to the required shapes and sizes, arranged according to the digital pattern, and carefully fixed onto a backing surface using an appropriate adhesive. Finally, the mosaic is grouted, cleaned, and finished to create a durable surface with the intended image and appearance.
